Jacques Côté

Born in Orléans, and resident of that City, Jacques Côté has been practicing law since his admission to the Bar in February 1996. After completing 2 years in Political Science and History at the University of Ottawa, he was admitted in the French Common Law program at the same University. He received his law degree in 1994. He completed his articles with the law firm Lalonde, Chartrand, Colonnier, O’Connor in 1994-1995.

In 1996, he completed a Concentration in Political Science at the University of Ottawa. He was awarded the Rodrigue Pageau Scholarship during the year 1990-91. He also received a grant for excellency from the University.

Jacques Côté has practiced law as a sole practitioner since 1996. He has provided legal services in the following fields :

  • civil litigation,

  • real estate,

  • wills and estates.

Presently, his practice is mostly devoted to real estate and Wills and Estates.

He provides legal services in both official languages.

Jacques Côté taught civil procedure and insolvency law at the Law Society (Professional Development courses - French section) from 2001 to 2005. He also participated in the civil procedure exam corrections beginning in 1999. He was an active participant in the new Professional Development Courses, which were provided between 2006 to 2008. He has taught two courses at La Cité Collégiale offered in the Parajuristes Program, from 2011 to 2013. He is now teaching "Droit des successions" at la Cité Collégiale and is also participating as an Articling Principal at Programme de pratique du droit (University of Ottawa).

He has given several presentations about the Law Faculty of the Ottawa University and the private practice of law at various high schools during his university studies and while in private practice. He has also given multiple public lectures on Wills and Estates.

He is married and father of three young children. He is devoted to his family, his legal practice and his community. He was a member of the Sainte-Anne Parish committee between 2002 and 2009. He is also a member of the Association des juristes d’expression française de l’Ontario, having served as a member of the Board of Directors of that Association. He was also on the Board of Directors and a member of the Executive Committee of the Montfort Hospital Foundation, from 2000 to July 2005.

Hélène Lessard

Hélène is a resident of Ottawa. She has more than 25 years experience as a legal assistant. She began her carreer with the law firm Lalonde, Chartrand, Colonnier, O’Connor, where she worked until September 1999. She has been working with Mr. Jacques Côté since September 1999.

In light of her numerous years of experience, Hélène is very knowledgeable in civil litigation, real estate and wills and estate matters. She is extremely appreciated by our clients thanks to her wonderful personality and the excellent services she renders.
